Carbonaceous chondrites

Of the 1,063 observed falls in NASA’s Meteorite Landings dataset (records to 2013), 44 are carbonaceous chondrites: chondrites rich in carbon compounds and water-bearing minerals. The same dataset holds 737 complete find records of this group, so seen falls make up 5.6 % of its records. Median recovered mass of the falls: 2.5 kg. The heaviest is Allende (2 tonnes, 1969). The earliest is Alais in 1806. The most recent is Sutter's Mill in 2012.

Bright dots: falls in this group. Faint dots: all other observed falls.
