Intermediate and ungrouped ordinary chondrites
Of the 1,063 observed falls in NASA’s Meteorite Landings dataset (records to 2013), 32 are intermediate and ungrouped ordinary chondrites: ordinary chondrites whose chemical group is intermediate or not assigned. The same dataset holds 126 complete find records of this group, so seen falls make up 20.3 % of its records. Median recovered mass of the falls: 1.3 kg. The heaviest is Knyahinya (500 kg, 1866). The earliest is Albareto in 1766. The most recent is Cali in 2007.
Bright dots: falls in this group. Faint dots: all other observed falls.
Classes inside the group
| Class | Falls | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary chondrite | 18 | an ordinary chondrite without an assigned chemical group or type |
| L/LL6 | 4 | an ordinary chondrite with iron content between the L and LL groups, petrologic type 6, strongly heated on its parent body |
| L/LL4 | 3 | an ordinary chondrite with iron content between the L and LL groups, petrologic type 4, mildly heated on its parent body |
| L/LL5 | 3 | an ordinary chondrite with iron content between the L and LL groups, petrologic type 5, moderately heated on its parent body |
| H/L3.9 | 1 | an ordinary chondrite with iron content between the H and L groups, petrologic type 3, the least heated and most primitive texture |
| H/L4 | 1 | an ordinary chondrite with iron content between the H and L groups, petrologic type 4, mildly heated on its parent body |
| H/L3.6 | 1 | an ordinary chondrite with iron content between the H and L groups, petrologic type 3, the least heated and most primitive texture |
| L/LL6-an | 1 | an ordinary chondrite with iron content between the L and LL groups, petrologic type 6, strongly heated on its parent body, recorded as anomalous |
